Hawkers Asian Street Food

Stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon. There's a happy hour special for half off all alcoholic drinks and a selection of small plates for $5 (about 50-60% off normal price). The pork belly buns are great, especially with the bits of cashew to add a texture element. The spring rolls are filled with a delicious, smooth filling. The Korean fried chicken was super crunchy, spicy, and great. No server, just the bartender, and we sat in a booth outside the bar areas. Nonetheless, he was attentive and answered questions and recommendations from the menu. 10/10 will revisit to try other dishes. Ordered a 5 spice old fashioned- not too different than regular, not tons of 5 spice flavor (it's a 5 spice simple syrup). Would personally have liked to have more 5 spice flavor to really set it apart. Spouse ordered a Malaysian Mule. Similar situations the turmeric simple syrup wasn't as strong to really set the drink off from a regular mule. Still, would go back and try other cocktails (especially during happy hour) to find one that really sets it apart as being unique to Hawkers.

Wow! This place NEVER lets us down. Such an amazing experience from the host and our server Ian. The food came out timely and it was amazing! Not to mention the drinks! The Malaysian Mule is highly recommended and the Dan Dan noodle! They do not take reservations but the space is so huge that you don’t wait for too long! It has indoor, outdoor and bar seating!

By far the most amazing Asian food in virginia!! They put such a fun twist on these meals and the flavors are DIVINE!! The twice fried Korean chicken comes with the most amazing balanced sauce with the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. The chicken is soooo crispy!! I have never experienced such amazing fried chicken. You may think I’m being dramatic but trust me when you try this food for yourself you will think you have gone to heaven. The fried rice, spring roles, and spicy chicken boa are also amazing but the twice fried chicken is by far the star of the show. The service is amazing as well! And so is the atmosphere, there is indoor and outdoor seating and the decor is so cute!! Love this place so much.

Dissappointed! Ordered takeout, so I'm basing this on takeout. Ordered 2 Crispy Pork Belly (soooo DELICIOUS), Shrimp basil fried rice (ehh) and Chicken lo mein (okay). Hands down the Pork Belly was soooooo good but not worth paying the price for the amount they give you! The Shrimp basil fried rice didn't really have flavor and ONLY had 4 shrimps. The Chicken lo mein wasn't what I expected. The chicken was blan, a lot of noodles, and less chicken. It wasn't even out for the amount of noodles cooked. If I counted, probably about 5 medium sliced chicken. Not sure if I'll give them a second chance and if I do, I'll go during lunch time and not for dinner.

Great Asian fusion spot, with inspiration from Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Thai (at least). We went with sharing platters of several dishes and a sake flight. Smaller amounts of food but the prices per plate are low if you don’t each as much. The lamb skewers had the classic shaokao spice mix which reminded me of legitimate Chinese bbq, shishito peppers had a nice sauce and were reminiscent of how padrón peppers are cooked from spain. The chicken dumplings were decent and the pork belly was nice and crisp. Not itching to come back but it’s a lively spot with good ambience (though a bit hard to hear). If I lived in the area I’d give it a few goes. Sake flight was decent. Can’t go wrong with roti canai, I recommend that as a starter!
